Fed: Costello says economy similar now to Budget outlook

Treasurer PETER COSTELLO says the Australian economy is looking very much as the government
forecast at Budget time.

Jobs figures out today show a jump in employment in July, and business and consumer
confidence are at or close to cyclical highs.

Mr COSTELLO says the economy was meeting the government's expectations at the time
of the May Budget.
