FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 3, 1997--AT&T is the top-rated provider of wide-area network transmission services, according to Computerworld's first National Customer Satisfaction Survey. A wide-area network or WAN is a set of geographically separated computers connected together for a single organization. The survey also ranked vendors of computer networking hardware and software.
Within the WAN transmission section of the survey AT&T scored the highest in overall customer satisfaction, while also garnering top scores in 17 out of 19 product and services criteria. This performance is particularly remarkable since AT&T is also the clear market share leader, said David Moschella, senior vice president research, Computerworld, Inc.
Computerworld's Customer Satisfaction Survey polled nearly 1,700 US IT professionals from Computerworld's large proprietary database of IT executives, with influence over their organization's choice of products and services in a specific area of networking technology. Respondents rated their satisfaction with their computer networking vendors on quality of product, cost of ownership, service and support, and comfort with vendor. The survey results provide buyers with a quantifiable means to compare individual vendor performance.
Computerworld has inaugurated a quarterly research series studying IT buyers' satisfaction with the vendors that supply their IT products and services. Future surveys will focus on systems and servers, personal computers, and the Internet/intranet.
